Leaving My golf Cart for 6 months? WHat Should I do?

This is one of the most common questions we get asked. A lot of our local customers leave the desert during the hot summer months (jealous). The answer really depends on what type of batteries you have in your golf cart.

If you are leaving your golf cart in warm climate for an extended period of time and your golf cart has lead-acid batteries it is EXTREMELY important that you have someone perform basic maintenance on the batteries at least once a month. This includes: checking and maintaining proper levels of distilled water in each cell. Failure to do this can have serious consequences such as fire or explosions.

If you are leaving a golf cart with a lithium ion battery pack the climate will not have as big of impact because the pack is sealed. For Roypow lithium packs, when it is time to leave you simply turn the key to the off position, plug the cart in with the charging cable, and down press the power button on the side of the battery pack. This shuts down the battery pack and safe guards it.

Aside from taking care of the batteries, it is important that the cart is taken off the charger once a month and driven(even if its just down the street). This assures the tires won’t be sitting in the same position which can lead to flat spots.
